Something exciting is happening at the Internexia Learning Centre.

Some 35 school teachers from the Northern Corridor Economic Region have been heading to Internexia’s Learning Centre in Gelugor, Penang every weekend for the past few months for the Vocational Up-Skilling Programme.

The aim of the programme is to equip the participants with better training skills and methodologies that will give them an edge in employability.

Internexia has been commissioned by the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) to run the Vocational Upskilling Programme. The programme which is endorsed by City & Guilds will be carried out over 16 weekends.

The participants, all of whom are experienced teachers, have been taking part in the Vocational Upskilling programme activities. These include group discussions where they exchange ideas and experiences. The participants are required to compile and submit their portfolio before the completion of the course.

The participants expressed their enthusiasm for the training. Roslan Bin Omar, Sekolah Menengah Teknik Kulim, said that he gained new knowledge in teaching and learning methods. Ruslan Mat Saat is grateful for the training opportunity as he is now able to speak in English more confidently.

Nor Johan Mohd Yunus felt that the training enabled him to plan his lessons more effectively and to write better lesson plans. Norhazale Bin Abdul Razak probably echoed the sentiments of all the other participants when she said that she was grateful for the opportunity to earn an international qualification.

All participants are expected to complete the programme in March 2013. They will receive a VTO (Vocational Training Officer) certification from JPK (Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran) and an Advanced Diploma in Teaching, Training and Assessing Learning Qualification from City &Guilds.
